Tony Carballo

2025 Whipple Writing Fellow

Tony Carballo ‘26, an avid Boston sports fan, natural sciences fanatic, and geography enthusiast, spends much of his time outside, whether for sport or leisure. He enjoys running and is a captain of the BHS Boys Cross Country team, plays BHS and club baseball, and is part of the BHS concert band as a bass clarinet. Aside from organized sports, he loves to play basketball and spikeball with friends, and beat his friends in video games, such as MLB the Show. History and biology fascinate Tony, and he loves to dive deep into ancient civilizations, animals, and environmental science. He has a penchant for research-based writing, and upon being a Curtin prize winner for history writing, is ecstatic to continue to dive into his interests. Since he was little, and evident through his still cramped closet of LEGO structures, he has always had a passion for art and creativity. With a want for the understanding of how the world works, in the writing world, Tony is also intrigued by nonfiction research. What most excites him in the Whipple Fellowship is to be able to intersect these traits and find a creative way to express his curiosities.
